Kani’s location is ideal for surfers. It is situated in North Male’ Atoll at the angle which creates the best of waves. The islands in this atoll line up from North-East to South-West, allowing the seasonal North-Westerly swell to wrap around each of these islands perfectly. Whenever the reef runs North-South, waves crash directly onto the coral, but where the angle is NE-SW, the waves peel off into the channel creating remarkable surf results. 
Named the Ninja’s, the Kani surf point breaks off at the edge of the island’s seaward lagoon. A sharp right hand peak over the reef provides an exciting take off and barrel, and wraps around a coral shelf to create an easy “hot-dog” wave suitable for a variety of maneuvers. 
The Sports Centre staff can take you to a variety of other surf points in the vicinity. Waves there include fast breaking left hand barrels, hollow right hand tubes, long right hand tubes and left handers.
