Catamaran Sailing

Sailing off into the sunset is not just for movies; Kani offers you the chance to do it everyday. Just hire a catamaran from the Sea Sports Centre and you are on your way, cutting through the waves with the sun on your face and the wind in your hair.

Windsurfing

The windsurf school at Kani, always buzzing with action, has multilingual instructors who can provide instruction at any level. What’s more, if you wish to become a certified windsurfer, the instructors could guide you to internationally accepted certificates at different levels of expertise.

Introduction

Kani offers daily free snorkelling trips to the house reef, at a distance of approximately 400 metres and boat diving 2-3 times daily to the numerous dive spots in the North Male’ Atoll. While the lagoons are tranquil for swimmers and wind surfers, close by, there are surf spots that impress the wave surfer.

 

 

Surfing

Kani’s location is ideal, for surfers. It is situated in North Male’ Atoll at the angle which creates the best of waves. The islands in this atoll line up from North-East to South-West, allowing the seasonal North-Westerly swell to wrap around each of these islands perfectly. Whenever the reef runs North-South, waves crash directly onto the coral, but where the angle is NE-SW, the waves peel off into the channel creating remarkable surf results. Named the Ninja’s, the Kani surf point breaks off the edge of the island’s seaward lagoon. A sharp right hand peak over the reef provides an exciting take off and barrel, and wraps around a coral shelf to create an easy “hot-dog” wave suitable for a variety of maneuvers. The Sea Sports Centre staff can take you to a variety of other surf points in the vicinity. Waves there include fast breaking left hand barrels, hollow right hand tubes, long right hand tubes and left handers.

Parasailing

Parasailing is available through the Sea Sports Centre for a bird’s eye view of the beautiful blue waters and palm-fringed islands.

Canoeing

Hire a canoe from the Kani Sea Sports Centre for a more tranquil way of enjoying the sea around Kani

 

Big Game Fishing

When nothing but the biggest will do. Big Game Fishing Excursions are arranged by the Sea Sports Centre with the possibility of catching the big ones. Morning and night fishing excursions are also available by local fishing boat, a dhoni, for a fun time dangling a line from the boat’s side and hoping for a bite. You’ll be surprised how easy it is.

 

Skiing

Skiing the crystal clear waters can be good fun and enormously exciting. Skis are available for hire at the Sea Sports Centre.
